Buyer Guide

How to Plan a Seafood Display Area for a Supermarket or Fish Market

Build a zone plan covering live holding, fresh display, replenishment, service access and utilities before choosing individual modules.

Purchasing guidance based on the supplied product catalog and published configuration references. Final technical suitability and operating conditions require project confirmation.

Make a zone schedule

Begin with the seafood assortment and selling method. Distinguish live holding from fresh fish displayed on ice or in a documented refrigerated case. Record the role of each zone and the required capacity or stock for review. This creates an equipment brief before it creates a shopping list, and avoids selecting a visual arrangement that does not match how the store operates.

Draw the fixed site constraints

Measure the available footprint and mark columns, walls, doors and delivery access. Include water supply, drainage and electrical points. Identify any restricted dimensions that cannot change and distinguish them from preferred dimensions that may be Customizable. A catalog combination's overall size should not be treated as the required size of each module in your building.

Choose island or wall-side access

An island arrangement needs customer, stocking and service sides defined. A wall-side counter needs an approved access arrangement even where its rear side is not customer-facing. Ask for equipment and maintenance access to be shown before accepting a compact footprint. This guide does not invent a universal aisle width; provide site requirements and have the drawing reviewed accordingly.

Map live-water zones separately

Mark freshwater and seawater requirements, species and planned stock. Ask for proposed circulation, filtration, oxygenation and cooling boundaries. Layered or combined tanks may have different source configurations. Show the intended circuits in the plan rather than assuming every compartment operates independently from its visible separation.

Plan ice, drainage and replenishment

Explain how fresh seafood reaches the counter and how ice is handled if an ice bed is proposed. Locate meltwater drainage and service connections. Include a flake ice machine only as an explicitly selected supporting item, with its own reviewed configuration. Confirm responsibility for site plumbing, electrical work and any external support equipment in the supply scope.

Approve module interfaces

For a combined island, request a module list and a drawing that dimensions the whole arrangement and each component. Identify the live tanks, ice tables, display cases and any adjacent counter functions separately. The supplied arc-combination image is a reference configuration, not a claim that all pictured modules are included when requesting one ice table.

  • Number and identify each module on the drawing.
  • Mark the service side, utility interfaces and equipment access.
  • Keep the module schedule consistent with the quotation.

Prepare the project package

Send the zone schedule, measured plan, species/product list and proposed formats through the RFQ. Add quantities, destination country, electrical configuration and desired delivery time for review. Request a drawing/specification approval step before production. No invented installed project, country, completion date or operating result is needed to prepare a useful plan.

BUYER QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Should I select products before measuring the store?

Use catalog formats as references, but provide the measured footprint and fixed constraints before approving modules.

Is the island reference a complete fixed package?

No. Confirm the actual module list, dimensions and included equipment for your project.

Can live and iced display be combined?

They can be reviewed within one plan, with separate requirements and utilities specified for each format.

What drawing is useful at the enquiry stage?

A dimensioned floor plan with access, utilities, zones and proposed module positions is useful even without a final technical drawing.
